Meet Dr. Lizette Warner - TLC Chief Operating Officer
IMAGINE
Consider being in a role where you’re performing at the highest level, but struggling to advance. To place yourself in a better position to succeed, you decide to step away from the workforce to pursue an advanced degree—all while juggling the demands of two small children and supporting your husband at home.
After four years, when you return to the workforce equipped with your new qualifications, the last thing you want is to waste time figuring out the path to success.
That’s the crossroads I faced, which ultimately led me to hire a coach.
This pivotal decision transformed my career, setting me on a trajectory I had only dreamed of. With the guidance of my coach, I achieved my professional goals, stepped into leadership roles, and was inspired to learn the art of coaching myself, seamlessly integrating it into my leadership style. This journey not only shaped my career but also enriched my approach to supporting others in their own paths.
SHUTTING DOWN A BUSINESS
Adopting a coaching leadership style played a crucial role in my journey to becoming the Chief Technology Officer for a division within a healthcare business. Coaching skills also accompanied me through the most trying time of my career - when I faced the heart-wrenching task of shutting down a once-thriving business due to higher-level leadership decisions.
Our leadership team was gutted as we had to walk the journey of letting employees go while struggling to understand a decision to shut down a thriving, profitable business. The rationale behind the closure eluded us, and we found ourselves in the difficult position of delivering the news to our dedicated staff. We were determined to approach this closure with the compassion, humanity, and connection that our leaders had not shown us.
As I mourned the loss of my business unit, my colleagues, and my high-performing team, I transitioned to a different part of the organization. However, I couldn’t shake the feeling that I wasn’t the same high-performing individual I had once been. Ultimately, I decided to leave and forge my own path by starting my own business. This venture not only thrived but also allowed me to reconnect with my passions and begin the healing process from the trauma of ineffective leadership.
TRUST IN LEADERSHIP
It was in this season where I met Lindsay Preston, the CEO of Trust and Leadership Coaching (TLC). Lindsay was solving the challenges that many high performers, like myself, encounter early in their careers.
She also resolved the issues I had experienced not just early in my early career, but also as I progressed into more advanced roles. . Many individuals, like myself, often turn to advanced degrees seeking growth, but what we truly need is practical knowledge on how to transition from being a rising star to a confident leader.
Sure, it's possible to chart that path on your own — as I discovered over a decade.
However, TLC offers invaluable training that can accelerate this journey in less than two years. Within just one year, you can acquire leadership skills that will benefit you for a lifetime, regardless of whether you're in a formal leadership position.
TLC equips you with the tools to foster a workplace built on trust, enabling individuals to flourish and organizations to achieve remarkable operational efficiencies—something I deeply wish I had been a part of in my previous work environments.
TRUST & LEADERSHIP
While working with Lindsay, who was pivoting her 10-year-old coaching business into Trust & Leadership Coaching, we both felt an inspiring nudge to partner in this new venture.
I was truly impressed by the innovative solutions she had developed and the impactful programs she created, and she saw a partner in me to help her scale TLC to meet the needs of individuals like myself — who are leaving the workforce in alarming numbers, struggling to advance their careers, or achieving impressive results at the cost of their well-being.
I sacrificed my well-being a time or two along my journey when I was pushing hard to achieve results. There was a moment when I lost three weeks of earned vacation simply because I had been so focused on my work that I neglected to schedule time off. On another occasion, I found myself blaming my boss for missing my benefit enrollment window, only to realize later that my lack of attention to my own well-being was the root cause of the issue.
These experiences have deepened my commitment to fostering an environment where well-being and success go hand in hand, and I’m excited to be part of this important mission with TLC.
THE SECRET
TLC has taught me that you CAN achieve at increasingly higher levels while prioritizing your well-being. It took me far too long to figure out the solution to that puzzle. Balancing achievement with well-being is essentially the paradox TLC solves, and that it teaches in a way that’ll have you shocked at your level of performance, all while you thrive.
A USER
I’m not only someone who works for TLC, I’ve benefitted from the programs, and its methods. I’m proud to be a part of TLC & honored to be able to share my story with you.
What’s important to know about me, though, is what you won’t see:
Someone who’s constantly struggled to belong
Someone who overcame imposter syndrome (So, there’s hope for you if that’s your burden!)
A woman who built a hickory island countertop that’s the envy of every person who sees it
A bookworm who built her own built-in bookshelves
A dog lover who has sadly buried 2 Irish Wolfhounds and 1 Golden Retriever
A mother of a soldier
Caretaker to her mother
Wife to a bestselling author of bridge young adult action and adventure stories, who makes her husband help her in her woodworking projects. I’m told Stephen King’s wife doesn’t do that. Her loss. 😂
